Audi Q3  [15/04/2011]

Australian compact SUV buyers will have to wait until early 2012 to snare the new Audi Q3 just launched in Europe.

Measuring 4.39-metres in length, 1.83-metres in width and standing 1.6-metres tall, the compact and stylish Audi Q3 looks set to become another standout new model from the Ingolstadt manufacturer.

Despite those compact dimensions and its light weight of under 1,500kgs, the Audi Q3 is predictably clever and practical (would you expect anything less from Audi?) – and delivers a towing capacity of 2.0-tonnes luggage space from 460-litres to 1,365-litres. Audi says the newcomer’s 17-centimeter ground clearance affords a degree of off-road competence.

Under the bonnet, Audi Q3 drivers can choose between three 2.0-litre engines (one TDI diesel and two TFSI petrol versions) driving all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro system or – a little later – a lower output, 2.0-litre TDI front-wheel-drive version.

Inside is the usual Audi high-tech/luxury overload which is oeaked by an optional Bose surround audio system with just the 14 speakers which combines with the interior lighting system to provide darkening/lighting via the front woofers.
