Opening your vehicles hood is a relatively simple task that can be done in a few minutes with no tools required. Always wear protective gloves and eyewear before you begin.
The latch used to open your hood is usually located in the passenger compartment on the drivers side, under the dash or built right into the dash. Once the interior hood latch has been released, you will have to activate the secondary latch under the front of the hood before it will open completely. This secondary latch is a safety device so that if the hood is accidentally released while driving the hood doesn't open completely and cause vision obstruction. You need to manually release the secondary latch by depressing the hood slightly and releasing the safety mechanism before you can lift the hood. Always make sure the hood is properly secured by using the prop rod or helper springs before removing your grip. When closing your hood, make sure to completely close the hood and pull up on it to confirm that it was properly closed.
